Job description

You’ll join WaterMelonMarkets as a full-time, Full Stack Engineer – Remote and work on a ground-up rebuild of our website. You’ll use a Django framework to build an elegant site, as well as get a chance to program smart contracts if interested. You’ll be be able to help think about the best user experience to allow our customers to easily transact using our site. You’ll have opportunities for growth and development, as you’ll be working with one technical cofounder.

The main product of WaterMelonMarkets.com is an online marketplace for physical goods like electronics, gift cards, and tutoring. WaterMelonMarket’s mission is to use web3 to enable new marketplaces with minimal fees, with a focus on user friendly trading in legit goods and services. We are building the next generation of our market from the ground up.

We have a repeatable customer acquisition system and proven demand on both sides of the market, as well as proven sales.

We’re a team of two founders who are successful serial entrepreneurs. We have taken multiple companies to sustainable success in the past and plan for WaterMelonMarkets to be our greatest effort yet.

Specs

  • $80,000 – $150,000 per year
  • Remote Full-Time (we are unable to sponsor visas to the US)
  • Choose your own hours; flexible schedule
  • Full benefits are accounted for through an increase in pay, which allows you to include: full health benefits, 5 sick days a year, plus 15 paid-day-off a year, plus 9 US holidays.

Skills & Requirements

We’re looking for a generalist who enjoys learning and working with different technologies along the stack. Successful candidates are independent workers with knowledge of or interest in the whole tech stack, from Dev Ops to modern front-end development. Graphical design skill is a plus, though optional as we’re able to source graphical design.

Our stack:

  • Django / Python (previous experience preferred)
  • React / JQuery
  • Linux / Google Cloud / App Engine
  • Web3 (Solidity / Polygon) (previous experience optional)

Requirements:

* Strong foundation software engineering, including databases, software design and dev ops (>=2 years experience).

* Strong hands-on experience with our core technologies: python and Django.

* Strong English proficiency (level 3 or above; speak at full speed on complex topics) and strong communication skills.

* If remote, an excellent work setup: dedicated desk with >10Mbps Internet; ability to have two 1-hour weekly video calls at a time of your choosing between Mon-Thur 8AM-8PM US Eastern Time.

Good to have:

+UX intuition and an eye for design

+Interest in Web3 or past crypto development experience, especially with solidity.

+Ability to work independently with low management overhead
